If you’re considering debadging your vehicle but you don’t even know where to begin, the team here at Bob-Boyd Lincoln, Inc. may be able to help. We offer the following guidance on debadging along with a word of caution to take extreme care to prevent accidental damage to the vehicle.
Automotive badges and logos are generally attached to the vehicle’s surface with a commercial-grade adhesive. This adhesive must be melted using heat or dissolved with a chemical solvent before the item can be removed. It’s a good idea to test any solvent product you plan to use on a hidden area of your vehicle to see if it discolors or damages the finish before applying it to the logo.
Working a piece of string, floss or wire behind the logo will help to loosen the adhesive and facilitate removal. Any glue that remains on the vehicle should be wiped away quickly before it has a chance to reset.
