National Safety Standards
Your vehicle, motor vehicle equipment, car seats and tires must meet United States Code for Motor Vehicle Safety standards. If these things don't meet the outlined standards, the manufacturer or the NHTSA issues recalls. How to Find Recalls
Your vehicle manufacturer automatically sends you recall alerts by snail mail, providing your vehicle registration remains current. Sign up for recall email alerts from the NHTSA. Try the recall mobile app Safercar. There's a website of same name. Both services provide current recall info according to your VIN.
