For those looking for a full-size, luxury SUV, a look at the 2016 Lincoln Navigator is in order. There are two versions from which to choose: The base model and the extended wheelbase model called the Navigator L. Drivers will find in both models three rows of generous seating, with standing second-row captain seats. Each model can carry 7 passengers in comfort. For those who need to carry 8 passengers, there is also an optional 3-person second-row bench seat.
Each of the above versions are available in either Select or Reserve packages. The Select (base model) comes with a long list of standard features including: 20-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, bi-xenon headlights, heavy-duty tow package, automatic wipers, power lift-gate, front and rear parking sensors, rear privacy glass, power-folding running boards, leather upholstery, key-less entry and ignition, tilt steering wheel, automatic climate control (w/ rear controls), heated/ventilated 8-way power front seats, and power-folding third-row bench.
In addition, the 2016 Navigator comes with the new Sync 3 interface that includes an easy-to-read 8-inch touchscreen. There is also a handy 110-volt household-style power outlet, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, voice controls, navigation system, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, smart-phone app integration, 2 USB ports, 14-speaker surround-sound audio system, HD radio, satellite radio, and much more.
One of the most obvious benefits with the 2016 Lincoln Navigator is its interior space. Even those in the base model will find a generous amount of room (leg and head) no matter where they are sitting in the spacious cabin.
For cargo, both Navigator models excel. The short wheelbase model offers 103 cubic feet of storage space when all the rear seats are folded down. The longer Navigator L offers 128 cubic feet. Drivers will love the standard power-folding third-row seat; push a button and the seat folds and unfolds.
When it comes to power, the 2016 Lincoln Navigator has plenty, powered by a V6, 3.5-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 380 horsepower with a whopping 460 lb-ft of torque. Standard is a 6-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. Optional is a 4-wheel-drive system (note: this option does not have low-range gearing).
On 2-wheel drive models, EPA estimated fuel mileage comes in at 18 mpg combined (16 city/22 highway); 4-wheel drive models come in at 17 mpg combined (15city/20 hwy). When properly equipped, the rear-wheel model can tow as much as 9000 pounds.
Safety features are aplenty as well. The vehicle comes with standard stability and traction control, anti-lock disc brakes, trailer sway control, front and rear parking sensors, front-seat side airbags, blind spot monitoring, side-curtain airbags, and rear cross-traffic alert. Also standard is the MyKey system parents can use to set max speed limit for teen drivers.
