The 2016 Lincoln Continental Concept car was recently shown at the New York Auto Show. This exceptional luxury sedan offers many appointments that have never been seen in a Lincoln before. Many of the changes that Lincoln designers and engineers brought to this luxury sedan were done so to please the Chinese market which Lincoln considers a critical market for this level of luxury car.

One of the most noticeable appointments is found with the new centered, one-piece grille. Upon close inspection, one sees that the grille is composed of interlocking Lincoln logos. Color palettes are not set in stone yet, but one color (Rhapsody Blue) is reminiscent of the traditional Continental trademark color. Set upon 21-inch, polished-aluminum, painted-pocket wheels, the car is truly attention grabbing.

The sedan also sports chromed headlights, disguised door handles, and a brand new look and presence that is truly unique for a luxury sedan of this size.

The 2016 Lincoln Continental Concept car has an exceptional interior that the company says is made with the "most sensual materials ever". The interior is host to Venetian leather seats and door panels. There are also Alcantara seat inserts and armrests. Buyers will find 30-way adjustable seats that conform to size and shape. In addition, the back seat (passenger-side) can recline completely with the touch of a button.

Those in the rear will be able to regulate environment settings and use the high-quality Revel Ultima audio system via a smart panel that is located on the through-center console. SPD SmartGlass tinting is available for the sunroof allowing travelers to regulate interior warmth using direct sunlight. The glass can lower interior temps by nearly 20 degrees Fahrenheit and block 99 percent of the sun's UV rays.

Quality suede rear seats (with footrests) can extend by moving the front passenger seat forward. It is expected that many buyers of the car will be chauffeured, thus explaining the many extraordinary appoints found in the rear seating area. For instance, with the push of a button, a tray table (mirrored, no less) swings over the rider's lap. Cup holders fitted for champagne flutes give the rear area a true sense of luxury.

Powering the Continental will be an exclusive V6, 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine. Specs on this engine have not been released yet. The sedan will also include modern technologies such as the Lincoln Drive Command and Flexible Steering systems. Also expected to be included are driver-assist technologies such as the Pre-Collision Aid (with Pedestrian Detection), the Enhanced Parking Aid, and a full 360-degree camera viewed via the MyLincoln touch screen.

The 2016 Lincoln Continental Concept is expected to go on sale next year, likely as a 2017 model.
